Sunday Café: The commitment to human rights in the 21st century
Lecture by Catherine R. Devaux
For over 60 years, Amnesty International has been working to protect human rights and their defenders around the world. Many citizens know the annual report, the information booths as well as the petitions of Amnesty — but over the years the work of the organization has changed a lot — also the social media contribute significantly to this.
Whether it’s war in Ukraine, brutally suppressed demonstrations in Iran, or persecuted trade unionists in Mexico, the dignity and rights of people are always up for defense.
Catherine R. Devaux, district spokesperson of Amnesty International Nordbaden, reports on the commitment to human rights in Karlsruhe, in Germany and worldwide, using numerous examples.
