The Kinemathek is Karlsruhe’s non-profit film art house that discovers, preserves and exhibits films. Through careful and continuous work, exchange with distributors and archives, film historical research and aesthetic reflection, the program series are curated and mediated.
It is thanks to enthusiasm and voluntary commitment that the Kinemathek has been able to offer a film program for over forty years that stimulates thought and discussion, keeps its finger on the pulse of the times, and convinces through artistic quality.
With 600 events and around 17,000 viewers a year, the Kinemathek is regarded as a platform for social exchange and a meeting place for different generations, but also as a school of vision in the midst of the contemporary media flood.
