Perspectives on protection from forced marriage for young people in the the Karlsruhe region
On May 04, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the specialist event “Perspectives on Protection from Forced Marriage among Young People in the Karlsruhe Region” will take place in the Bürgersaal of the City Hall of Karlsruhe.
This is aimed in particular at professionals who work with immigrant families and people with international histories.
It is intended to raise public awareness of the issue, provide an opportunity to exchange information, strengthen local prevention and identify interfaces on the ground.
The event is dedicated to everything worth knowing about the topic of forced marriage and the associated legal basis.
It will provide information on where those affected can find help and protection in Baden-Württemberg.
In addition, a look at the practice in the Karlsruhe region will be taken in order to clarify what is (still) needed here in terms of prevention.

Within the framework of this event, Aktion Jugendschutz Baden-Württemberg, the Children’s Office, the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Office for Integration of the City of Karlsruhe as well as the Integration Officer and the Equal Opportunities Officer of the District of Karlsruhe are cooperating.
The Lord Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe, Dr. Frank Mentrup, and the Head of Social Affairs of the Karlsruhe district, Margit Freund, will give welcoming addresses.
