The Youth Migra­tion Ser­vice (JMD)

The ser­vices and tasks of the Youth Migra­tion Ser­vice (JMD) Indi­vid­ual inte­gra­tion sup­port for new­ly immi­grat­ed young peo­ple aged 14 and over; advice for all young peo­ple with a migra­tion back­ground in cri­sis sit­u­a­tions; advice for par­ents on school atten­dance, edu­ca­tion and train­ing for their chil­dren; group activ­i­ties, includ­ing with local young peo­ple; col­lab­o­ra­tion in local net­works for inte­gra­tion; help with per­son­al prob­lems; refer­ral to reg­u­lar ser­vices if necessary.

Aim of the service
The aim is to sup­port young migrants in their lin­guis­tic, edu­ca­tion­al, pro­fes­sion­al and social inte­gra­tion into Ger­man society.

Pre­req­ui­site
The ser­vices offered by the Youth Migra­tion Ser­vice are aimed at young peo­ple and young adults with a migra­tion back­ground (eth­nic Ger­man immi­grants and for­eign­ers) between the ages of 14 and 27, espe­cial­ly those who have recent­ly immi­grat­ed and are no longer of school age. The legal basis for fund­ing is the fed­er­al gov­ern­men­t’s chil­dren and youth plan.
